Residents and businesses of Aurora are encouraged to share their priorities for the 2022 budget in pre-budget consultations this month.

Feedback will be accepted until June 30.

The first multi-year budget, which covered 2020, 2021 and 2022, was approved in 2019.

But council must still legally approve each year's budget to make sure it continues to align with the town's priorities.

“Municipal budgets are always a delicate balancing act where tough decisions need to be made,” Mayor Tom Mrakas said in a statement.

“Through public consultation, residents can share their priorities to help us best align our municipal funding with what matters most to our community now and for the future.”

Strategic planning and budget planning go hand in hand, Aurora’s Chief Administrative Officer, Doug Nadorozny, said.

“By engaging our residents, we learn more about the issues that concern our community, improving the quality of decisions made across the corporation, as well as enhancing public understanding of the budget process,” he said,
