Aurora making cooling centres available to residents in event of extreme heat advisory

The Town of Aurora is opening its community centre to be used as a cooling centre in the event an extreme heat advisory is in effect.
The cooling centre will be located at the Aurora Community Centre at 1 Community Centre Lane and will be open Monday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to the town, residents who want to use the cooling centre to get a reprieve from the heat will be screened upon arrival. Residents will be provided with an area to rest and will be required to practice physical distancing as well as proper hand hygiene.
Splash pads across Aurora are also open and available to public use. The splash pads are open on Monday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ada Johnson Park, 60 Hartwell Way.
Trent Park, 140 Thomas Phillips Dr.
