York Region will be temporarily closing Highway 27 between Rutherford and Martin Grove roads in Vaughan starting on June 25 at 9 p.m., until June 28 at 5 a.m.

The work that will be taking place is required to demolish and remove the original 83-year-old Canadian Pacific Railway bridge and install a storm sewer.

To prepare the work site, one southbound lane on Highway 27 between Royalpark Way and Martin Grove will also be closed on June 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Local access will be maintained for properties in the closed section throughout the duration of the temporary closure.

Additional weekend closures will also be required throughout the construction period, according to a York Region report.

The region will provide a notice in advance before each closure.

To help manage daily commutes during constriction, travellers can plan their route by using traffic and navigation tools.

"We recognize construction can be inconvenient and are making every effort to minimize disruptions and keep residents informed with regular updates," the region report states.

In the case of inclement weather or delays related to COVID-19 public health guidelines, work may be rescheduled.
