The Town of Newmarket will host a drive-in fireworks show and concert to celebrate Canada Day July 1.

The municipality is selling a limited number of tickets for the event, which will take place at the Magna Centre on 800 Mulock Dr. The show will feature a fireworks display, synchronized with a curated, all-Canadian musical playlist using 97.1FM. Tickets are $5 per vehicle and will go on sale through the municipal website June 21 at 8 a.m.

Tim Hortons is sponsoring the event. All who attend will also be entered into a draw to win coffee for a year.

“This year's condensed, altered, drive-in only activity will replace the traditional Tim Hortons Canada Day event due to COVID-19,” the Town of Newmarket said on its website. “This event is in compliance with Provincial COVID-19 Guidelines."

The event is drive-in only and must be accessed with an online ticket purchase, with each ticket covering one vehicle. No walk-ins, drop-ins, pedestrians or non-registrants will be allowed to enter.

For those who cannot attend, the Department of Canadian Heritage is offering a celebration kit and virtual fireworks show through Canada.ca/canadaday.

Registration is open to Newmarket residents only due to limited spaces. The concert will begin at 9 p.m. July 1 with access to the facility available starting at 8:30 p.m. More information is available on the municipal website.
