For residents looking to get their hands on a new recycling bin or green bin, the Town of Newmarket is having a sale during Canadian Environmental Week, which runs from June 1 to June 7.

To celebrate, Newmarket is offering blue boxes, green bins, and kitchen-sized bins to residents at discounted rates.

Recycling bins are $6 instead of the typical $10, large green bins are now $15 instead of $20 and kitchen catchers are just $3 instead of $6.50.

Due to the pandemic, ordering has to be done online by emailing info@newmarket.ca or over the phone by calling 905-953-5303 during business hours.

Once orders have been placed, residents can expect to have their new bins delivered within five to 10 business days.

For residents wishing to replace a broken blue box or green bin, they can call Green for Life at 1-866-421-5625 to arrange for a free replacement bin, according to the town's website.

Newmarket has another sale on now, “just in time for Environmental Week.”

The town has partnered with Rain Barrel fundraising to offer the rain receptacles to residents.

You can purchase rain barrels with prices ranging from $40 to $80, as well as a number of accessories.

This sale has been on since May 3 and also runs until June 7, which is the last day of Canadian Environmental Week.

The national initiative was started in 1971 to celebrate environmental achievements and encourage more conservation and protection actions.
