2 Georgina short-term rentals among 10 charges for York Region COVID-19 violations

Other charges include 2 individuals in a Vaughan park fined for contravening the stay-at-home order and not maintaining physical distance

Charges for violations of the province's COVID-19 restrictions dropped to 10 last week, and included two short-term rentals in Georgina.

The private residences located at 327 Lake Dr. North and 1976 Metro Rd. North were each fined $880 for operating as short-term rental accommodations.

Under the province’s stay-at-home order, “Short-term rentals (for example, cottages, cabins) are only to be provided to individuals who are in need of housing.”

York Region's COVID-19 enforcement task force conducted 859 inspections from May 24 to May 30.

Lavender Wellness, which offers massage services in Richmond Hill, was issued two charges for violating the stay-at-home order.

Individual were charged at Mapes Park in Woodbridge, including a fine for failure to remain at home and a fine for failure to maintain social distancing.

No businesses in Newmarket were named in the past week’s enforcement actions.

Since March 2020, 1,388 charges have been laid across the region and over 65,000 inspections have taken path.

From May 17 to 23, 1,155 inspections were made and 52 charges laid.
