It's storytime! A different kind!

Like many public libraries in the Greater Toronto Area, Richmond Hill Public Library (RHPL) is set to celebrate Pride with a special drag queen storytime with Gila Münster.

For the second year in a row, Richmond Hill parents and children can join Münster to read and sing along to picture books with LGBTQ themes, and celebrate the difference in the community.

Münster is a professional drag queen in the GTA. Proclaimed as Richmond Hill's premier Israeli drag star, she has performed in a variety of organizations for all ages, and is known for her affinity for musicals and love of glitter.

The program will be hosted on Zoom, June 5, 1:00 p.m. Parents and children can register for the free virtual program on rhpl.ca.

A drag queen storytime event takes traditional elements of a professional performance to children and adds to that an opportunity to promote inclusion, self love and diversity. It has quickly become one of the most popular events hosted by many public libraries across the GTA.

Meanwhile, RHPL is seeking community feedback on future library services, as the library is working on its new strategic plan, which will guide the direction of future programs and services offered to Richmond Hill residents.

Until June 10, community members are invited to provide feedback on how the library can help support them as they live, learn, work and play in a post-pandemic world.

To participate through a variety of digital forums, and for more information on RHPL's strategic planning process, please visit www.rhpl.ca/strategy.
