The Town of Aurora has laid out its plans to launch programs and amenities as the province moves into Step 1 of the pandemic reopening June 11.

“I am pleased with the provincial announcement that Ontario will be moving to Step 1 as of this Friday,” Mayor Tom Mrakas said.

“I have been advocating for Ontario to open as we have seen a decline in COVID-19 cases and our vaccination numbers going up. We still need to take a cautious approach and continue to follow the public health guidelines, but I believe this is an indication of the first step towards a more normal life for our residents and businesses. I hope that our residents will continue to support our small businesses as more non-essential retail stores open.”

Under Step 1, the following municipal services are permitted:

• Day Camps. Visit aurora.ca/camps to register.

• Club Aurora Fitness Centre is looking to provide outdoor fitness programs. Visit aurora.ca/fitnessclasses for updates.

• Outdoor fitness classes and personal and sports training in parks or public places are by permit only. Email bookings@aurora.ca for more information.

• Field and ball diamonds will be available to be used by permit beginning June 14. Email bookings@aurora.ca.

• Aurora’s Patio Extension Program is available. Visit aurora.ca/businesssupport.
