Whoop!  261K COVID-19 vaccines doled out in York Region in April
      About  34 per cent of York Region residents have received at least on COVID-19 dose by  April 30

      York  Region Public Health started tracking its COVID-19 vaccine rollout in early  March, administering on average about 4,500 vaccine doses per day between March  5 and 31.
      With  several mass immunization clinics across the region starting up, April’s daily average  was about 8,700 vaccines administered.
      Here’s a  snapshot of the COVID-19 pandemic for April 2021:
      COVID-19  by the numbers:
      
        - Total COVID-19 cases as of April 1 -- 31,602;      
 
      
      
        - Total COVID-19 cases as of April 30 -- 46,224, a 46 per cent increase;
 
      
      
        - Active cases as of April 1 -- 1,981;      
 
      
      
        - Active cases as of April 30 -- 2,363, a 19 per cent increase;
 
      
      
        - Total new COVID-19 cases on April 1 -- 265 new cases, including 158  variant cases;      
 
      
      
        - Total new COVID-19 cases on April 30 -- 310 new cases, including 84  variant cases. 
 
      
      
        - Total number of vaccine doses administered in April -- 261,310, bringing  the total to 437,127 as of April 30;      
 
      
      
        - Number of York Region residents who received at least one dose as of  April 30 -- 412,624 or about 34 per cent of the population;
 
      
      
        - Highest daily doses administered -- 11,919 on April 22;      
 
      
      
        - Number of doses administered to those 75-years and older -- 10,220 or  about 4 per cent of total vaccines;
 
      
      
        - Total number of doses administered to 60- to 74-year-olds -- 112,810 or  about 43 per cent of total vaccines; and      
 
      
      
        - Total number of vaccines administered to 45- to-59-year-olds -- 118,043  or about 45 per cent of total vaccines.
