After an extensive public consultation process with over 400+ participants providing their feedback on what they wanted to see at Newmarket’s first outdoor skatepark (located outside of the Magna Centre), the Town of Newmarket is excited to reveal the final concept design to the public.

“Thank you to all the residents and community stakeholders who participated through our public information centres, surveys and our online engagement portal. Your feedback helped shape this unique and first in Newmarket outdoor skatepark,” says Mayor John Taylor. “The new outdoor skatepark will become a fantastic facility that will provide more much needed recreational opportunities for youth to exercise, be outdoors and have fun.”

The outdoor skatepark will include a variety of skate features to accommodate junior to advanced riders and provide learning opportunities to all users and age groups. Some main features include:

In addition to the skatepark features, the proposed amenities include gathering areas, shade sails, picnic tables, benches, landscaping features, bike racks, and a water bottle filling station.

With the skatepark’s design revealed, next steps include tendering the project through a request for proposal, awarding the contract, construction of the skatepark and the eventual opening that is anticipated for spring 2022.
