Council meetings, marriage licences, permits all available online, writes Mayor Margaret Quirk

The town’s website, georgina.ca, has a lot of great information, with details for living here, doing business and your local government.

Did you know that all council and committee meetings are now by Zoom and are available to watch “live”, participate as a speaker on a topic on the agenda, or to watch later?

Council agendas are posted the week prior to the meeting, and council highlights for each meeting are posted after the meeting, with an overview of the topics and decisions made.

There is information on the town’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with details of current openings, closures and links to York Region’s page for vaccination clinics and other resources available.

The "News and Alert" section provides quick reference for current information such as reminders for waste collection, emergency road closures and media releases.

A relatively new section is the "Online Services" page. Did you know you can apply for your resident only parking pass online? There is an application form to submit electronically or you can mail the form. The permits can be received by email or by mail.

You can also start the process for a marriage licence online and set up an appointment to complete the application.

Building permits can be applied for online, for everything from a swimming pool to an addition or new home. Details of what is required and how to submit is outlined.

Looking to do business with the town? The "Bids and Tender" section allows potential bidders to view the town’s current tenders, download documents and place their bids electronically.
