YRT mobility on-request service connects to 8 locations in Newmarket

York Region Transit (YRT) service changes will take place on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Schedule and route changes are being made to adjust for changing customer demand.

Route highlights include:

• Schedule changes for Routes 98 - Yonge, 99 - Yonge, 98/99 -- Yonge late night, 105 - Dufferin, Viva blue and Viva orange
• Mobility On-Request 65+ (MOR 65+) pilot service is extended to Dec. 31, 2021
• Travellers using Mobility On-Request (MOR) Bristol and MOR Gorham-Eagle trips can be book trips using the YRT MOR App, available in the App Store or Google Play
• MOR Newmarket Local will connect travellers to one of eight select locations in Newmarket from any address in the service area; travellers can book by phone at 1-844-667-5327 or with the YRT MOR App

Due to the continued impacts of COVID-19, many YRT services are either not operating or on a reduced schedule; this will continue until further notice.

Transit is an essential service and continues to be available to those for essential travel. YRT monitors updates from York Region Public Health to ensure the safety of all travellers and staff and to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Measures in place include:

• Mandatory non-medical face mask or covering for all travellers that are able to comply while on public transit
• Front-door boarding and requiring travellers to exit the middle/rear doors to create a one-way flow
• Increased cleaning and disinfection of buses and facilities
• Barrier shields installed on all buses to provide additional protection between passengers and drivers
• Face masks, sanitizers and other personal protective equipment provided to all drivers and front-line staff

In addition to these measures, customers are strongly encouraged to only travel for essential needs, use contactless forms of payment, including PRESTO and the Pay app, practice physical distancing and travel during off-peak times wherever possible, exercise good hand hygiene and staying home when sick.
