York Region hits another COVID-19 vaccine milestone with 70% of adults vaccinated

Appointments remain available for the youth friendly clinics that begin tomorrow

With close to 700,000 doses administered to York Region residents, another milestone has been reached in the local COVID-19 vaccine rollout with 70 per cent of eligible adults receiving at least one dose as of today, May 26.

Of the 49,000 new vaccine appointments made available yesterday morning, about 9,000 remain available, including about 3,700 "youth friendly" appointments, according to York Region spokesperson Patrick Casey.

Anyone aged 12 and older who lives, works or goes to school in York Region can book appointments at york.ca/COVID19Vaccine.
Youth-friendly clinics are being held in Newmarket beginning tomorrow, including an entire weekend for families May 29 and 30 at Newmarket's Ray Twinney Recreation Complex.

To date, 690,249 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to York Region residents, including:

• 45,438 doses to people age 80+, or 93.4% of residents in this age bracket
• 31,460 doses to people age 75-79, or 92.1% of residents in this age bracket
• 45,820 doses to people age 70-74, or 86.3% of residents in this age bracket
• 53,572 doses to people age 65-69, or 84.2% of residents in this age bracket
• 62,446 doses to people age 60-64, or 79.0% of residents in this age bracket
• 69,160 doses to people age 55-59, or 74.1% of residents in this age bracket
• 67,659 doses to people age 50-54, or 73.2% of residents in this age bracket
• 62,580 doses to people age 45-49, or 71.9% of residents in this age bracket
• 54,763 doses to people age 40-44, or 72.0% of residents in this age bracket
• 47,003 doses to people age 35-39, or 63.0% of residents in this age bracket
• 39,594 doses to people age 30-34, or 50.4% of residents in this age bracket
• 40,124 doses to people age 25-29, or 50.0% of residents in this age bracket
• 42,865 doses to people age 20-24, or 54.0% of residents in this age bracket
• 16,860 doses to people age 18-19, or 49.7% of residents in this age bracket
