The Regional Municipality of York’s Paramedic Services is donating two of its decommissioned ambulances to local not-for-profit organizations to help meet increased demand, provide training and community support services and provide mobile mental health education.

One ambulance will be donated to St. John Ambulance and the other to Wounded Warriors Canada.

In York Region, ambulances are removed from use when they reach an established lifecycle of five years or approximately 250,000 kilometres. Decommissioned ambulances can be repurposed and donated to registered not-for-profit, community or international humanitarian organizations.

Paramedic Services Week is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of paramedics across the country. This year’s theme, “Paramedic as Educator -- Citizen Ready,” speaks to the important role paramedics play as partners in health and safety across our communities.

York Region’s team of over 550 paramedics provide emergency response and community care to residents and visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Visit us at york.ca/paramedics or follow us on Twitter @YorkParamedics
