PinkCars needs volunteers to help York Region seniors 70 and older get vaccinated

PinkCars, a volunteer-led community group providing COVID-19 vaccination support for seniors aged 70 and older in York Region, is seeking additional volunteers, the City of Vaughan said in a statement May 19.

The group helps older adults book their vaccines and provides them with safe travel arrangements to and from their scheduled appointments.

Since launching March 1, PinkCars’ volunteers have secured appointments to inoculate more than 3,000 people in Vaughan and beyond.

So far, more than 620,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to York Region residents or 63 per cent of the population of all eligible adults. That includes more than 121,000 seniors aged 70 and older.
