The park isn't opening this Friday anymore, but the season isn't totally lost.

Canada's Wonderland has bumped its opening date back after previously claiming it would open on May 14, 2020.

The amusement park put out a statement on May 11 stating that they will postpone their opening date due to the ongoing pandemic.

"Due to our delayed opening, we will be extending the validity of all current 2020/21 Season Passes through to Labour Day 2022," says the park.

Upon opening, Canada's Wonderland says guests will have to pre-schedule their visits, adhere to their mandatory face covering and social distancing guidelines, and agree to download the park's COVID-19 app, which will utilize location services on individual's phones.

The park previously announced an opening date of May 14, 2021. However, Ontario remains under stay-at-home orders and all outdoor gatherings between households are prohibited.

More big attractions opening in Ontario this summer
Canada's Wonderland isn't the only attraction hoping to open this summer in Ontario.

The CNE has expressed intent to open in late August. Darrell Brown, the CNE director of corporate support and legal services, told Narcity that they're "continuing to look at it, day to day, and we will adjust as we go along, but our hope is that we can arrive at a full opening."

The Waterparks of Ontario Coalition has also voiced its eagerness to open up parks around the province, such as Wet'n'Wild Toronto and Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls.
