York Region COVID-19 enforcement team hands out 19 non-compliance charges

The York Region COVID-19 enforcement task force laid 19 charges under the Reopening Ontario Act, against businesses and residents found to be non-compliant with public health restrictions and measures from May 3 to 9.

Task force members carried out 1,461 inspections during the seven-day period. In addition to the charges, officers completed 403 compliance education safety measures and protocols.

York Regional Police laid seven charges, and York Region Transit laid three charges.

Of the charges for the week, four of them were issued by Vaughan, two were issued by Markham, and one was issued by Georgina.

All fines are $880 unless otherwise stated.

Bomond Restaurant and Lounge, 1200 Hwy. 7, Vaughan, hinder or obstruct an officer in their attempt to enforce this bylaw.

Champion Doner, 2810 Major Mackenzie Dr. West, Vaughan, fail to west appropriate personal protective equipment in the course of providing services.

Eagle Canada Car Rental, 7750 Kennedy Rd., Markham, missing safely plan.

Green Creek Spa, 7750 Kennedy Rd., business open contrary to order.

Krate's Marina, 290 The Queensway South, Georgina, fail to comply with rules for areas in stage one.

Paramount Sports, 130 Racco Pkwy., Vaughan, failure to close.

Royal Fades Barbershop, B-5797 Hwy. 7 East, Markham, failure to close.
