The City of Markham has been busy promoting and hiring several key people to its senior leadership team.

“The City of Markham is committed to delivering exceptional services by exceptional people and the recent hiring of senior members of our leadership team is an example of the depth of experience and knowledge within our organization and the ability to attract top-notch industry talent,” said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.

“With each appointment comes decades of industry experience that will greatly serve our organization and the community.”

Frank Clarizio joins the city as the new director of engineering.

Clarizio brings with him over 30 years of development services experience having previously served as director, design and construction, municipal infrastructure and Gardiner Expressway rehabilitation with the City of Toronto.

Alice Lam rejoins city ranks from Metrolinx to serve as director of operations.

Lam had previously served as the city’s senior manager, roads, survey and utility.

Previously serving as the director of operations, Morgan Jones has been appointed to the role of commissioner of community services.

Jones has served in a variety of roles with the city since 1991 and is credited with adopting innovation and fostering sustainable practices, which have brought recognition to the municipality throughout the years.

Eddy Wu has been promoted to the role of director of environmental services.

Wu previously served in the role of acting director and, prior to that, manager of waterworks operations and maintenance.

In addition, Chief Adam Grant of Markham Fire and Emergency Services will join the executive leadership team and report directly to the chief administrative officer.

“Joining our senior leadership team is a roster of highly respected and experienced professionals that have either grown within our organization or have decided to join our team, with a combined commitment to innovation and service excellence,” said CAO Andy Taylor.

“The City of Markham has been recognized as a top employer and our ability to attract and retain talent is a testament to our organization’s commitment to investing in staff and ensuring our employees have the ability to thrive.”
