One notable admission from grocery stores that report positive COVID-19 tests publicly is Walmart. While Loblaws, Longos, Sobeys, and Metro owned stores post positive COVID cases, Walmart, along with Costco, do not.

Recently it was revealed to yorkregion.com that Walmart provides a list of stores with positive tests to suppliers daily. That list, however, is not posted publicly. When asked why Walmart doesn’t post its stores cases publicly like other grocery stores a Walmart spokesperson failed to answer the question and said Walmart “responds transparently to requests received about the number of recent confirmed cases.”

The lists given to suppliers shows seven Walmart stores and 14 employees in York Region with recent positive tests. Walmart confirmed the cases to yorkregion.com

Four Walmart stores in Vaughan had recent positive tests.

Four employees at the store on 670 Applewood Cresc. tested positive. The last days they worked were April 22, 24, and May 1.

An employee at the 1900 Major Mackenzie Dr. store in Maple tested positive for COVID-19. The last day they worked was April 17.

Two employees at the store located on 3600 Major Mackenzie Dr. W. tested positive. The last days they worked were April 23 and April 28.

Three employees at the store located on 8300 Hwy. 27 in Woodbridge tested positive. The last days they worked were April 26, April 28 and May 2.

In Markham, an employee at the 500 Copper Creek Dr. store tested positive. The last day they worked was April 24.

In Richmond Hill, an employee tested positive at the 1070 Major Mackenzie Dr. E. store. The last day they worked was April 30.

In Stouffville, two employees tested positive at the 1050 Hoover Park Dr. location. The last days they worked were April 25 and April 27.

“Out of an abundance of caution, when an associate who works in one of our stores is confirmed as having tested positive, associates identified as being in close prolonged contact are directed to self-isolate. We are in contact with local public health,” Walmart spokesperson Felicia Fefer said in an email.
