7 more schools in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Newmarket closed because of COVID-19

Another five schools in Vaughan have been closed due to COVID-19.

Viola Desmond P.S. reported one new case of the virus and has three confirmed cases in total. The school will be closed to students from April 6 and reopen April 19.

St. Agnes Of Assisi CES has also been closed with three cases of COVID-19.

St. Clement CES reported three new cases April 6, and has five confirmed cases in total. The school has been closed and will reopen April 19.

St. Emily CES and St. Gregory the Great Academy each reported two new cases of the virus. Both schools have been closed and will reopen April 19.

Father Henri Nouwen CES in Richmond Hill has also been closed with two confirmed cases, and St. Elizabeth Seton CES in Newmarket has been closed due to one case of COVID-19. It will reopen April 19.

As of April 6, there are 103 schools in York Region District School Board having COVID-19 cases according to their Advisory Notices.

In York Catholic District School Board, 48 schools have COVID-19 cases and 14 schools have been closed as of April 6, according to the COVID-19 Advisory Board.

12 schools in Markham are reporting new cases of COVID-19 today.

One more case was reported at Bill Crothers S.S., bringing the total confirmed cases there to 13, but the school remains open.

Meanwhile Franklin Street P.S., Greensborough P.S., Legacy P.S., Milliken Mills H.S., Parkland P.S., Victoria Square P.S., Woodland P.S., All Saints CES, St. John XXIII CES and St. Monica CES each have a new case of the virus.

St. Brother André CHS reported two new cases and two classrooms have been closed.

15 Vaughan schools have new cases of COVID-19.

Forest Run P.S., Johnny Lombardi P.S., Julliard P.S., Teston Village P.S., Divine Mercy CES, Holy Cross Catholic Academy, Immaculate Conception CES, St. Angela Merici CES, St. Margaret Mary CES and St. Veronica CES each reported a new case of the virus, while Carrville Mills P.S. and St. David CES each reported two new cases.

There are seven confirmed cases in total at Maple H.S. with one new case reported today, and the school remains open.

One new case of COVID-19 was reported at Tommy Douglas S.S., bringing the total confirmed cases there to 11, and the schools remains open as well.

In Richmond Hill, three schools have new cases of the virus.

Corpus Christi CES reported one new case and has two confirmed cases and one closed classroom, Father Frederick McGinn CES reported two new cases and two classrooms have been closed, and St. John Paul II CES has one new case and three closed classrooms.

Light Of Christ CES in Aurora has one confirmed case and one closed classroom.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.

York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.
