York Region COVID-19 task force charge 7 establishments for non-compliance

Members of the York Region COVID-19 enforcement task force laid 11 charges agains residents and businesses across the region found to be non-compliant with public health regulations and measures under the provincial Reopening Ontario Act from March 29 to April 4.

Task force members conducted 1,125 inspections during the seven-day period. In addition to the charges, officials completed 327 compliance education activities.

Of the charges, three were handed out by York Region Transit, one by Richmond Hill, and three by Vaughan.

Charges by York Regional Police are not included in the region’s report.

Fines are $880, unless otherwise noted.

Since March 2020, public health inspectors, municipal bylaw officers and other enforcement agencies have completed 52,654 inspections, resulting in 1,127 charges and 25,842 compliance education activities.
