Another Vaughan public school closed due to COVID-19

After the third case of COVID-19 was confirmed at Anne Frank P.S. in Vaughan, the school will close to students from April 1 to April 19.

Four other schools in Vaughan have new cases of COVID-19.

Maple Creek P.S. reported one new case of the virus and has four confirmed cases in total.

Pierre Berton P.S. and Kleinburg P.S. each reported a new case as well, and both schools have six confirmed cases in total.

Meanwhile there are eight cases of COVID-19 at Tommy Douglas S.S., including one new case reported March 31, and the school remains open.

In Markham, Buttonville P.S. and Thornlea S.S. each have a new case of COVID-19, and Henderson Avenue P.S., which has been closed since March 29, also reported one new case of the virus, and has six confirmed cases in total.

Four schools in Richmond Hill have new cases of COVID-19.

Charles Howitt P.S., Crosby Heights P.S. and Roselawn P.S. each have one new case, and Father Henri Nouwen CES has two new cases of the virus and two classrooms have been closed.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.

York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
