York Region has updated its COVID-19 dashboard following a renewed focus on workplaces throughout Ontario and the role they play in the spread of COVID-19.
The move comes days after the medical officer of health for Peel Region, Dr. Lawrence Loh, said he would begin to close workplaces with five or more cases in a two-week span.
Toronto followed suit, but York Region decided not to.
In a statement, York Region's Director of Communication Patrick Casey said that, in an effort to be "transparent and accurate," public health would make the changes to its website.
"(The new tab) details the percentage of workplaces in each sector with an active COVID-19 outbreak in York Region," he wrote.
In all, there have been 3,850 total confirmed workplace cases, 20 currently ongoing and 12 confirmed workplace outbreak deaths.
The numbers are updated as of 5 p.m. each day.
