Hang on to your hat; winter is not quite done with us just yet.

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for York Region.

The statement was issued for snowfall creating slippery road conditions and reduced visibility related to anticipated snowfall starting late in the evening and continuing into midday April 21. Wind gusts of up to 50 km/h could also accompany temperatures below 0 C.

Municipalities at the southern end of the region, including Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan, are advised 4 to 8 cm of snow could fall overnight until late morning April 21.

Communities in the northern end of the region are advised to expect up to 5 cm of snow into the afternoon of April 21.

The morning commute is expected to be impacted. All non-essential travel is discouraged until road conditions improve.

The advisory is due to a low-pressure system that is forecast to track south of York Region the night of April 20 and into April 21.

Due to the uncertain track of the weather system and the warm ground temperatures, total snowfall amounts expected could change, Environment Canada advised.
