The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has closed most outdoor recreational amenities.

Effective immediately, all sports courts in the municipality, including basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, are closed. In addition, outdoor fitness equipment, soccer fields, baseball and softball diamonds, cricket pitches, skateboard parks, community gardens, and lawn bowling facilities are closed.

All trails, open green spaces, playgrounds, the off-leash dog park and the outdoor walking track remain open. Users are reminded to practise physical distancing and to wear a mask if distancing becomes a challenge.

The province reversed their decision regarding playgrounds on Saturday, April 17 after announcing they would close as part of the amendments Friday.

Municipal law enforcement and parks staff will continue to enforce closures and physical distancing measures stringently. If residents have any questions, the town’s bylaw department can be contacted at 905-640-1910 ext. 2229
