Stouffville, Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan, East Gwillimbury schools have new cases of COVID-19

Two Stouffville schools, Barbara Reid P.S. and Stouffville D.S.S., each reported a new case of COVID-19.

In Richmond Hill, Crosby Heights P.S. reported two more cases of the virus and has six confirmed cases in total. Our Lady Help Of Christians CES has one new case and two closed classrooms. Father Henri Nouwen CES also reported two new cases, and the school has already been closed.

Four schools in Markham have new cases of COVID-19.

Franklin Street P.S., which has been closed since April 7, reported one new case, bringing the total confirmed cases to six.

Little Rouge P.S. and Milliken Mills H.S. each reported a new case of the virus, while Randall P.S. reported two new cases.

Five Vaughan schools have new cases of COVID-19.

Pierre Berton P.S., Pope Francis CES and St. Joan Of Arc CHS each reported one new case, and Joseph A. Gibson P.S. reported two new cases. St. Emily CES also reported a new case of the virus and has three confirmed cases in total, the school has already been closed.

Huron Heights S.S. in Newmarket and Our Lady Of Good Counsel CES in East Gwillimbury each reported a new case of COVID-19 as well.

For all confirmed cases, families and staff at the school will be notified by letter. York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.

York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
