Whitchurch-Stouffville is getting set to reopen several town facilities in April.
Council made the decision at council meeting in March where it voted to bring back 19 full-time leisure staff members laid off in January. In addition, part-time staff will also return to work in preparation for the reopenings.
“This is great news for everyone,” said Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt.
The Town had forecasted an $800,000 shortfall in 2021 due to COVID-19 induced economic pressures. However, recent emergency funding under the Province’s Safe Restart Agreement provided the town with $1.3 million in grants.
On April 8, the Leisure Centre including the library, art gallery and customer service is set to reopen along with the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum, 19 on the Park, Clippers Arena and Latcham Hall.
On April 12, the fitness centre and the gymnasium program at the Leisure Centre is set to reopen.
The pool is scheduled to reopen April 19 with the Stouffville Arena set to open April 30.
