Central York firefighters take out grass fire that closed Hwy. 404, Wellington in Aurora

Central York Fire Services has put out a big grass fire that caused a temporary road closure at Hwy. 404 and Wellington Street in Aurora March 30.

According to York Regional Police Const. Laura Nicolle, police received many calls from people about a grass fire and smoke.

At around 11:28 a.m., police were called to the scene and Central York Fire Services also attended to put out the fire.

The fire spread toward the Walmart parking lot, but was put out just before 12:30 p.m., Nicolle said.

There were no physical injuries to any resident or first responder in this incident.

All roads in the area are reopened.
