The message is as clear as water: Be careful around waterways.
This is the message to residents from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) reminding them of the dangers that exist near bodies of water, particularly around this time of year.
Spring does mean warmer weather, but it also means there will be rain, melting snow and shifting ice which can result in higher, faster flowing water. Also, slippery and unstable stream banks and extremely cold water temperatures can lead to very hazardous and dangerous conditions close to any body of water.
As such, people are urged to keep their families and pets away from the edges of all waterways.
