Another Vaughan Catholic elementary school closed due to COVID-19

St. James Catholic Elementary School reported one more case of COVID-19 on March 1 and is now closed until March 8.

It has two confirmed cases and two classrooms were previously closed.

It is the second school that has been closed due to COVID-19 after York Catholic District School Board’s reopening.

Two other school cases come from YCDSB, as St. Emily Catholic Elementary School and St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Elementary School each have one new case and one closed classroom.

In York Region District School Board, 17 schools are reporting 23 new cases.

Five Markham schools have new cases of COVID-19.

Ashton Meadows Public School and Buttonville Public School each report a new case of COVID-19, while Coppard Glen Public School reports two new cases.

Lincoln Alexander Public School has one new case and three confirmed cases in total, which is the same as Stonebridge Public School.

Eight schools in Vaughan have new cases of COVID-19.

Blue Willow Public School and Mackenzie Glen Public School each have a new case.

The unnamed secondary school also reports a new case of the virus.

Forest Run Public School has two new cases, while Lorna Jackson Public School has three.

Two Newmarket secondary schools, Dr. J.M. Denison and Sir William Mulock, each have a new case of COVID-19.

East Gwillimbury’s Mount Albert Public School reports two new cases, bringing the total confirmed number to three. Park Avenue Public School has a new case of COVID-19, as well.

Northern Lights Public School in Aurora has two new cases of the virus.

O.M. MacKillop Public School in Richmond Hill and Willowbrook Public School in Thornhill each report a new case.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with those who had contact with the cases.

York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
