The City of Vaughan is updating the secondary plan for its emerging downtown core but it needs public input.

To inch toward a “complete community to 2051 and beyond,” the city said an online self-guided public open house is available until March 25. Visit vaughan.ca/VMCPlan have your say.

Known as the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC), it is being billed as the largest and most ambitious development project in the city's history.

The secondary plan will define “all the elements needed for successful development, including new roads and active transportation routes, open spaces and parks, policies to establish land uses and key infrastructure requirements,” the city said.

The update is needed to reflect new provincial and regional policies and to ensure the existing planning framework is still relevant.

An update on the VMC secondary plan -- Phase 1 findings is being presented to the VMC subcommittee March 2.
