York Region's Circular Economy Initiatives Fund boosting green projects

York Region's Circular Economy Initiatives Fund is offering $5,000 to $25,000 in funding to non-profit, community-driven, innovative projects that aim toward reducing residential waste.

To be eligible for the funding, a new project must advance a circular economy (based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use and regenerating natural systems) and meet one or both of the following objectives:

• Reduce waste and environmental footprint through projects that result in a reduction of residential waste generated (based on weight) or an increase in reuse of residential waste, diverting it from landfill;

 

• Enhance education and awareness through education and awareness projects that lead to behavioural change and/or increased knowledge of the value of waste.

The funding is open to registered charitable organizations and non-profit organizations.

Organizations that are for-profit, have political affiliations or anything else that falls under the list on york.ca are not eligible for the funding.

The application process is in two stages, and the preliminary application deadline is by April 4 at 11:59 p.m.
