Markham, Vaughan schools have new cases of COVID-19

Bill Crothers Secondary School in Markham reported one more case of COVID-19 on March 17 and has four confirmed cases in total.

Eight schools in Vaughan have new cases of COVID-19.

Fossil Hill Public School and St. Michael the Archangel each have a new case.

Romeo Dallaire Public School reported one new case and has two confirmed cases in total, Hodan Nalayeh Secondary School reported two new cases and has three confirmed cases, while Tommy Douglas Secondary School also reported a new case, bringing the total confirmed cases to four.

In a closed school, Lorna Jackson Public School, one new case of COVID-19 was reported. There are two confirmed cases in total. The school has been closed since March 15 and will reopen March 24.

Meanwhile in Thornhill, Rosedale Heights Public School reported two more cases of the virus and has four cases in total, and Thornhill Public School reported one new case and has three confirmed cases.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.

York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
