Catholic elementary schools in Vaughan closed due to COVID-19

Two more Catholic elementary schools have been closed due to COVID-19.

St. James Catholic Elementary School in Vaughan has been closed to students, with one confirmed case and one closed classroom. The school will reopen March 25.

Meanwhile St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Elementary School in Thornhill has two confirmed cases and three classrooms have been closed. The school has been closed as well, and will reopen March 25.

Two other Vaughan schools, Nellie McClung Public School and Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Elementary School, each have a new case of COVID-19.

In Thornhill, Rosedale Heights Public School reported one new case of the virus and has two confirmed cases in total, which is the same as Westmount Collegiate Institute.

Two Richmond Hill Schools, Charles Howitt Public School and St. Charles Garnier Catholic Elementary School, each have a new case of COVID-19.

Markham’s Bill Crothers Secondary School also reported a new case of the virus and has three confirmed cases in total.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.

York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
