The City of Markham is looking for volunteers for the Mayor’s Black Youth Liaison Committee to support Black youth in the community and combat anti-Black racism.
The group will be an open forum for youth to convey perspectives on issues and initiatives that are of particular importance to them.
The committee will work in collaboration with key municipal staff, including the city's diversity, equity and inclusion specialist, political leaders and community stakeholders.
Applications are being accepted until April 2 to fill a minimum of eight spots, with one to two representatives from each of Markham, Milliken, Thornhill and Unionville.
If you will be between 15 to 19 years of age at the start of your term and a resident of Markham, visit markham.ca/wps/portal/home/about/volunteering/opportunities/05-opportunities for more information and to apply.
