East Gwillimbury’s Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary School has been closed due to COVID-19.
Three new cases of the virus were reported, bringing the total confirmed cases at the school to six. The school will reopen on March 24.
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Elementary School in Keswick has been closed as well. It has one confirmed case and one closed classroom. The school will reopen on March 25.
Lorna Jackson Public School in Vaughan has also been closed to students, though there’s only one confirmed case as of March 15. The school will reopen March 24.
Another closed school in Vaughan, Woodbridge College, reported nine more cases over the weekend. It currently has 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to York Region District School Board.
Five other Vaughan schools have new cases of COVID-19.
Hodan Nalayeh Secondary School and Kleinburg Public School each have a new case.
In York Catholic District School Board, Father John Kelly Catholic Elementary School and St. James Catholic Elementary School each have one confirmed case and one closed classroom.
St. Cecilia Catholic Elementary School has four confirmed cases of COVID-19, three classrooms have been closed and the school remains open.
Four schools in Markham have new cases of COVID-19.
Pierre Elliot Trudeau High School, Bill Crothers Secondary School, Cedarwood Public School and Markham Gateway Public School each have a new confirmed case of the virus.
Three Richmond Hill Schools, Richmond Hill High School, Silver Pines Public School and Windham Ridge Public School, each reported one new case, as well.
Westmount Collegiate Institute in Thornhill and Rick Hansen Public School in Aurora each have a new case of COVID-19.
Georgina’s Morning Glory Public School has one new case of the virus and two confirmed cases in total.
York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.
York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.
