Four schools in Markham reported new cases of COVID-19 Mar. 12, according to York Region District School Board.
Bill Crothers Secondary School, Cedarwood Public School and Markham Gateway Public School each have a new case.
Ellen Fairclough Public School reported three more cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to five, and the school remains open.
In Vaughan, Blue Willow Public School and Johnny Lombardi Public School each have a new case of COVID-19, and Tommy Douglas Secondary School has two new confirmed cases.
Two schools in East Gwillimbury also reported new cases.
Holland Landing Public School has one new case, while Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary School has two new cases; three confirmed cases in total.
Silver Pines Public School in Richmond Hill and Stouffville District Secondary School each have one new case of COVID-19.
Three Thornhill schools reported new cases of the virus, as well.
Willowbrook Public School and St. Rene Goupil Catholic Elementary School each have a new confirmed case, and St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Elementary School has two new cases and three closed classrooms.
York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with people who had contact with the cases.
York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.
