In essence, the city is working on this new plan to the meet current and future needs of Vaughan residents.

So far, the environmental assessment for the new water plan is being conducted in two phases.

Phase 1 is about reviewing the current water system master plans to identify opportunities and solutions and document background information and data requirements.

It also includes developing master plan objectives, guidelines, design criteria, servicing principles and policies, and updating all ground surface models for existing urban water system conditions. The plan is keeping in mind natural heritage features.
