York Region Catholic board appoints new director of education

Robert Hofstatter, who is currently program head of computer science and engineering robotics at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto, assumes his new role with YCDSB on March 1

The Board of Trustees of the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is excited to announce the appointment of Robert Hofstatter as their new Director of Education, effective March 1, 2021.

"The selection of Mr. Hofstatter for this key position signals a bold, new era of leadership, driven by a desire for excellence in Catholic education, visionary innovation and collaborative involvement with staff and students " said Dominic Mazzotta, Chair of the Board. "With this appointment, we are excited to build on our Catholic values and strategic commitments in fresh and dynamic ways, to propel learning forward in the 21st century and continue our track record as a high-performing school board."

Mr. Hofstatter brings to his new position more than 20 years of progressively responsible leadership roles in financial security services, software technology and advanced strategies for STREAM schools (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Math).

He holds master's degrees in business administration and education, is a certified information systems security professional (CISSP), a project management professional (PMP) and is a member of good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

Mr. Hofstatter is currently the program head of computer science and engineering robotics at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto. Prior to that he was vice-president, global information security operation systems at Scotiabank.
