Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library, in partnership with Muskoka Woods, started lending snowshoes to residents on Feb. 6. Muskoka Woods is an overnight summer camp for children aged 6 to 16 on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka.

Library chief executive Margaret Wallace said she is “delighted about the partnership and is excited to offer this new service to the community.”

The library has received 15 pairs of snowshoes that can be borrowed, with a library card, for one week each. There are no limits to the number of pairs of snowshoes customers can borrow and there are no holds and no renewals on these items.

“There’s never been a better time to get outside for physical activity. Muskoka Woods is thrilled to partner with the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library to provide a way for people to snowshoe and enjoy the outdoors this winter,” Chris Tompkins, executive director of Muskoka Woods, said.

Mayor Iain Lovatt is excited about this initiative as residents can make use of the town’s many trails. “Residents can search the town’s website where they can find an interactive map and trail guide to plan their snowshoeing adventure,” he said.

Snowshoes must be picked up and returned at the library during curbside operating hours.

Curbside hours can be found on the library’s website or by calling 905-642-7323.
