York Region Public Health has issued a public notice tonight as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases linked to the outbreak at FedEx Ground in Vaughan has reached 54.
Ten of the cases are York Region residents, 13 are from Toronto, 29 from Peel Region and 2 from Wellington-Dufferin Guelph, according to York Region director of corporate communications Patrick Casey.
While most of the infected employees have recovered, Casey said the public health unit is closely monitoring the outbreak as there is the potential for more cases to be confirmed.
The outbreak was first declared last November with 15 cases confirmed at the 400,000-square-foot facility, located on the west side of Highway 27 near Martin Grove Road.
The risk to the general public is considered low, Casey said.
