The City of Vaughan is on the lookout for people to fill two top managerial positions, as well other roles.
Since Jan. 15, a public recruitment process has been underway to fill the role of deputy city manager of community services, which has been occupied on a “rotational-acting basis.”
The closing date for resumés is Feb. 12. The annual salary range is from $192,449 to $229,108.
The vacancy followed the retirement of Mary Reali in September last year.
The city is also looking for a deputy city manager of planning and growth management.
City manager Jim Harnum is currently filling that role on acting basis. The position was previously held by Jason Schmidt-Shoukri, who has not been with the organization since August 2020.
The city said a “public recruitment process for this role is underway.”
Meanwhile, Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service is looking for a for a new chief after Deryn Rizzi was hired as Mississauga's fire chief and director effective Feb. 2.
Mike Doyle will serve as acting chief until a replacement is appointed.
Rizzi’s “extensive” tenure was lauded during a recent Vaughan council meetings. Rizzi, who broke the glass ceiling in becoming the first female fire chief, continued to make history when Vaughan fire department became the first in Ontario to have all of its firefighters trained and tested under the National Fire Prevention Association’s standard.
The City of Vaughan is also looking for candidates to join its audit committee. Selected members will join a decision-making group that advises and assists council in reviewing governance, risk management and internal control practices.
