WHAT’S GOING HERE? 3 towers, up to 35 storeys, proposed at Yonge and Brookside

As busy as it is now, the area of Yonge Street and Brookside Road is likely to see even heavier traffic in the future.

Three towers have been proposed to be erected to replace a two-storey plaza at the northwest corner of the intersection.

Richmond Hill council has recently approved the application of a five-story medical building at the same corner, just behind which 12-storey apartment building and 57 three-storey townhouse units have been proposed in a separate application.

JUST THE FACTS:

Who: Hazelview Developments Inc.

Where: 11160 and 11172 Yonge St.

What: A high-density mixed use residential/commercial development comprised of three towers -- of 15, 18 and 35 storeys -- have been proposed with 731 residential units and 510 square metres (5,490 square feet) of commercial floor space at grade.

How: A request has been received to amend the official plan and zoning bylaw for subject lands to permit the development.

What next: The applications have been circulated to city departments and external agencies for review and comment. A council public meeting will be scheduled and held at a later date, with formal notice.
