Will it or won’t it?

Well, the best answer the Ontario government seems to have at the moment to the question about whether Canada’s Wonderland will open on May 14, as it hopes, is "We don’t know."

This after Ontario’s Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Minister said it’s just too early to know.

“Our government continues to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 closely, but it is far too early to speculate on how and when restrictions will be loosened to permit Canada’s Wonderland to reopen,” MacLeod wrote.

One Vaughan father believes it would be irresponsible to open the park.

"All projections foresee a major case spike in the spring thanks to the UK variant of the virus, so it's completely insane to even THINK about reopening Canada's Wonderland -- or any other group-focused place for that matter," wrote Matthew Forbes in an email.

Besides him, lenty of people on Twitter had opinions on the amusement park’s announcement, following MacLeod’s statement.

Twitter user @RickCity explained his trepidation at the announcement.

“I love Wonderland so much, but I don't know if places like that will ever feel safe to me.”

Another user, @ktjamie, was openly pessimistic about the possibility.

“I love that we're still living in a world of denial where Canada's Wonderland seems to think it's worth announcing they'll open on May 14th.”

While @tamaraphillips wrote she’d happily attend in May

“I’m telling you ... if Canada’s Wonderland DOES open back up in May ... I’m buying a seasons pass and I will literally go by myself every single time if I have to.”

The park said it plans to take steps in an attempt to secure safety for visitors, including pre-booking visits and temperature checks before entering the grounds.

It also asks that people keep two meters away from guests and park staff.
