Mayor John Tory says the city will leave the Christmas lights up at city hall until the end of January, and he’s encouraging Torontonians to do the same.

680 NEWS asked the mayor about leaving the holiday lights up in an effort to spread cheer during the covid knockdowns and Tory agreed.

“If people can afford the small extra hydro bill, I’m in favour anything that puts a smile on peoples faces and bring cheer to the City of Toronto at this point in time”, he said.

Tory says not as many people got to see the light display at city hall this past holiday and so he’s instructing city staff to leave the lights at Nathan Phillips Square for another three and a half weeks.
