York University, Mackenzie Health sign 2-year deal focusing on research, innovation

'This memorandum of understanding will strengthen the partnership'

York University and Mackenzie Health have signed a two-year memorandum of understanding to spur on community-focused health collaboration to enhance health services, training of highly qualified personnel, research and innovation.

During a virtual signing event on Jan. 20, university president Rhonda L. Lenton was joined by Altaf Stationwala, president & CEO of Mackenzie Health, Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Richmond Hill MayorDavid Barrow to mark this memorandum.

“(It) will strengthen the partnership between York University and Mackenzie Health and allow us to contribute toward advancements in research, management and policy that create healthier communities in York Region and drive positive change both locally and globally,” Lenton said.

Stationwala described the pact as “another way to formalize” the long-standing partnership between his organization and York University.

“We look forward to finding new ways to work together with the ultimate goal of improving the way we deliver care to residents across western York Region,” Stationwala said.
