Loblaw stores report at least 22 COVID-19 cases among workers in York Region since Dec. 30

Loblaw Companies Ltd. says more than 22 employees at 12 stores across York Region tested positive for COVID-19 between Dec. 30 and Jan. 4.
The stores included Shoppers Drug Mart and Fortinos in Vaughan, Loblaws and Rob's No Frills in Richmond Hill, and Loblaws in Markham, according to the daily updates on the company’s website.
On Dec. 30, a worker at Shoppers Drug Mart at 13070 Yonge St., Richmond Hill was confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus.
Loblaw says the last day the employee worked was Dec. 22.
In less than a week since then, the food retailer has reported at least 21 more confirmed cases.
Most recently on Jan. 4, two employees at Loblaws at 200 Bullock Dr., Markham tested positive for COVID-19. The last day they worked was Dec. 27.
Five employees tested positive in December and November at the same store.
In Richmond Hill alone, Loblaw has reported eight cases among its employees at four different stores since Dec. 30, including three cases at Loblaws located at 10909 Yonge St. and another three at Rob's No Frills in Oak Ridges.
