The City Of Vaughan Just Shut Down Many Of Its Outdoor Recreational Activities

Finding things to do outside will now be more difficult for residents of the City of Vaughan.

Effective immediately, the city has closed down its skating rinks, as well as a tobogganing hill and dog park.

The closures are "in response to rising cases of the virus," the city wrote in a statement.

The skating rinks at Chancellor Community Centre, Dufferin Clark Community Centre, Father E. Bulfon Community Centre, Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, and Vellore Village Community Centre will all be affected by the closures.

The toboggan hill at North Maple Regional Park and the dog park at 299 Racco Parkway are shutting down as well.

The statement says that most facilities will remain closed until June 2021 at the earliest, including Vaughan City Hall.

"Open trails will remain available, however, users are reminded to follow all public health guidelines -- including practising physical distancing -- when visiting them."

The City of Toronto is keeping its sledding hills and skating rinks open amid the stay-at-home order, encouraging people to make use of them with members of their household only.
