Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service confirmed Dec. 30 that four of its members recently tested positive for COVID-19.
"Two members are out of self-isolation," VFRS Chief Deryn Rizzi said. "The remaining two will complete self-isolation on Jan. 1.
"There is no impact on VFRS and our ability to respond to emergencies," she said.
"We are confident the situation is stable and poses no risk to staff or to the ability to serve the community."
The service conducted a deep clean of the workplace and vehicles.
"As we continue to support those who have contracted COVID-19 while performing their essential duties, we are reminded of our first responders' sacrifices and responsibilities during this global pandemic," Rizzi said.
"Our thoughts are with the affected individuals. I want to thank VFRS staff for working through this pandemic to ensure the safe delivery of fire and life safety services."
