The good news is that along with getting a new look in parking tickets, Aurora residents will be able get on-street parking passes for overnight guests.

The bad news is you will still have to pay fines for parking infractions.

Starting Dec. 7, Aurora’s parking tickets will have a new look as the town has moved to a new vendor named Gtechna to issue and pay for parking tickets.

The new tickets will be yellow in colour, water resistant and will contain bilingual wording, the town said in a statement.

The existing white and red parking tickets will be discontinued. However, any issued tickets up until Dec. 31 will remain valid.

Instructions on how to pay your parking ticket will be printed on the back of each new ticket along with a printed link to Gtechna’s website, where the new parking tickets can be paid.

Users can also view their parking ticket history and photos of the infraction.

The old red and white parking tickets can still be paid online through paytickets.ca.

The town is also introducing Occasional Use on Street Parking Permits (OUPP) where residents or visitors can apply online for up to 12 free parking passes per vehicle each year through Gtechna’s web portal.

The service helps residents who require an extra parking space for overnight visitors or need an extra temporary space.

Permits are free and available to apply online for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The permit will only be valid for 24 hours from the time the permit is applied for online.

Permits are issued electronically and are automatically attached to the licence plate, so no print and display is required.
